Carbon Black Dispersion Tester
The GT-505-CBD is specifically designed to analyze how carbon black is dispersed in mixing compounds.
By using oblique illumination at a specific angle to observe the cut surface of the compound, the degree of dispersion of carbon black can be evaluated.
PRINCIPLE: By exposing the cut surface of the rubber using oblique illumination, well-dispersed carbon black results in a smooth and defect-free surface. In contrast, poor dispersion leads to raised circular or irregular-shaped clusters or dents on the surface. The size and occurrence of these raised clusters or dents reveal the level of carbon black dispersion in the rubber. This process is captured as a digital image, which can be directly compared with international standard images or company-specific reference images stored in the computer. The dispersion grade can be automatically assessed by the computer based on relevant international standards, minimizing human error.
